Toki does osoji
Good day at home--Cleaning house, planting greens, walking with the pups. Toki's accidentally helping by throwing her toy into the trash.

Had one of those intergenerational/twinkie moments...I asked my mom if there was a Korean word for cleaning house/self for the New Year. She looked at me like I was slow (yes, I could see her look over the phone), and said "chung-soh," which means cleaning. When I pressed her for a more specific word, she said "dae chungsoh," which means big cleaning. And I could hear the look on her face--if I cleaned properly all year, I wouldn't have to look for special words to describe it.

Since I didn't make it to a Korean bathhouse, I scrubbed about a pound offa myself this morning (guess it's a traditional thing). I didn't bother to ask my mom if there was a word for that tho.

whirlwind
It's nearly 2009, and much has been neglected lately. Thinking about a little osoji tomorrow before the New Year begins.

2008 has been a good year, and I'm considering how to sum it up. Looking forward to 2009 (hello, day after tomorrow!) and hoping for good change.

So best wishes to all and good end/beginnings to all.

days 4, 5: superfine, brunch, museum...

[been remiss in posting...going back and getting caught up before 2009 (!!!) catches up to me.]

turkey-day seems so long ago now. but it was a good whirlwind trip with good family/friends time. cwee's life seems lovely, if busy. and her home was so dang cute--cobblestones, new england, all that. nyc was cold (made me appreciate sunny california...), but filled with good new york adventures and good times with kelllllly o, sy's sis, and even a quick visit with miz ss. it was the first vacation for miz shiny-eye and myself in a while, so it was good to get away. even the long flights were great--i hadn't had that much time to myself in ages (sad, i know).
